BLK Super Speciality Hospital Legacy

Dr. B L Kapur, a reputed Obstetrician and Gynaecologist settled a Charitable Hospital in 1930 at Lahore. In 1947, after moving to post-partition India and settled a Maternity Hospital at Ludhiana. In 1956 on the invitation of the Prime Minister, Dr. B L Kapur started the project for setting up a 200 bed hospital in Delhi. The hospital was inaugurated by the first, well-known Prime Minister, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru on 2nd January, 1959. In 1984, when the hospital was celebrating its Silver Jubilee, it was also an expanding hospital well on its way to becoming Delhi's premier multi-specialty institute. Services included General Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dentistry, Pulmonology, Intensive Care and Orthopedics, apart from mother and child care. A factor which is of much importance to the hospital is the health of the community. In view of that, Enthusiastic doctors held camps and also public health talks to improve the status of community health.

In the late 1990s, the Trustees of the hospital started feeling the need of upgradation to a tertiary care hospital and hence tied up with Radiant Life Care Private Limited to redevelop as well as manage the facility. Today, a modern tertiary care hospital came up in place of the old hospital.
